Description: This plant is considered very toxic if consumed but has a long history of being used for medicinal purposes.

Habit: Erect annual, biennial or perennial herb growing to a height of about 50 cm.

Leaves: Orbicular-ovate, 4-10 cm. long lamina, deeply toothed; 1-5 cm. long petiole.

Stems: Sticky and pubescent.

Flowers: Lower flowers with pedicels 8 mm. long, other flowers sessile. Calyx 10-15 mm. long, lobes broadly triangular, 1.5-2.5 mm. long. Corolla up to 30 mm. long, usually cream or white in color, greenish or purple throat.

Fruit and seeds: Broadly tubular-campanulate, slightly swollen, 20-25 mm. long.

Habitat: Native to southern Europe. Can be found in disturbed sites.

Reproduction: By seed.
