Flowers: Round, globular, numerous thin overlapping petals; pink, white, dark red-purple in color; fragrant; hermaphrodite, pollinated by insects, self-fertile.
Fruit and seeds: Numerous seeds found within the fruit.
Habitat: Native to Europe. Found in woodland garden sunny edges and dappled shade.
Reproduction: By seed, softwood cutting, simple layering or hardwood cuttings.
